Our “On the Trail Clinic” is going to test you as a horseman/horsewomen, push you beyond your perceived limits, and strengthen your bond with your horse.
This clinic is three days, 8am - 5pm the first day, 9am-5pm the following two days; taught by Professional Clinician, Mark Hernandez. If you need a little extra help, Mark will be available from 8am-9am each day and 5pm-6pm each day as well.
The purpose of this clinic is to take all of the knowledge, understanding, and exercises that we have learned in the arena and apply it to real life scenarios in the pasture and on the trail. We will be working on my entire 200 acre ranch as well as possibly going to other locations around my ranch to expose our horses to other stimuli. We will be working around livestock, trees, going through water, getting our horses soft and supple, and so much more!
Below is a condensed version of what the three day “On the Trail” looks like.
Day 1: We begin by warming up our horses with very basic groundwork and immediately go into riding with different exercises in the arena. We don’t stay in the arena long because we then move to my four leaf clover and really get our steering tuned in. The day ends with getting out onto my ranch, cantering my trails, circling trees, and really teaching your horse how to be soft and supple.
Day 2: We begin by warming up our horses out in the pasture with a little groundwork. We will work on disengaging our horse’s hindquarters in motion, softening in motion and get back in the trees and cantering around the property. The day ends with introducing your horses to scary objects, softening transitions, my four leaf clover, and learning how to do a proper two rein stop.
Day 3: We take everything we have learned on day 1 and 2 but take it to the next level. We will be introducing your horse to water, cantering through some different types of terrain, and introducing livestock. We leave you with a plan on how to continue and build upon all of the work that you have completed!
Mark’s passion is teaching horsemanship with safety first in mind so there are pre-requisites in order to participate in this clinic. This clinic is NOT for beginners or anyone new to horsemanship. You have to have taken our three day foundation clinic in order to participate. If you have not, you have two options. 1) Sign up for one of the upcoming Foundation clinics 2) Send us a video (I will give you the requirements) of proof of skills. There will be many other participants so you and your horse must be comfortable and be able to work together in a big group. Mark needs to be able to give equal time to each of the participants so a proof of skills video is a must.
The cost of our “On the Trail” Clinic is $695.00 per person. This fee includes lunch at no additional costs all three days. Board is included for your horse at no additional cost (you just have to provide feed and care). To hold your spot, 50% of the clinic fee is due, along with the application, and application video (if required) and the remaining 50% is due 30 days prior to the clinic start.
Due to the nature of our “On the Trail Clinic”, spectators are not permitted.
So now, the question is are you ready to challenge yourself, your horse, your relationship with your horse, and take your horsemanship skills to the next level, on the trail? If you are ready, let me know and I will send you the formal application. Remember, these spots are limited and your spot is not confirmed until an accepted application (and video if applicable) as well as the deposit is received.
